Little Dot Studios Achieves 68% Reduction in Emissions Since 2021

At Little Dot Studios we made a commitment to be net zero by 2030 and since then we’ve put in the work to become an environmentally friendly, digital-first business.

Now, we’re proud to announce that since 2021, we’ve cut our emissions by 68%!

How We Did It

Our progress in reducing our business’ emissions comes from policy shifts, more accurate measuring and reporting.

We made big changes to our travel policies, reduced our data storage and introduced new measurements to calculate home-working emissions. Plus, we’ve purchased renewable energy certificates to achieve zero carbon energy.

Clean, Zero-Carbon Energy

We’ve maintained our carbon neutral status while going further: 100% of electricity consumption across both offices and home working is now certified zero carbon. This is achieved through a combination of renewable energy in local supply mixes and matching any remaining use 1:1 with Renewable Energy Certificates, ensuring every unit of energy we consume is balanced with clean energy added back into the grid.

Rethinking Travel

Travel has historically been one of our biggest emission sources, so we set new policies to encourage more sustainable choices for our teams. The results have amounted to an 85% increase in rail travel and a 37% reduction in air-travel-related emissions.

By shifting from planes to trains where we can, we’re cutting travel emissions while still connecting with clients and colleagues.

Smarter Data Management

As a digital-first business, we know data has a footprint. We reduced emissions through:

  • Data and storage efficiency improvements.
  • Migrating storage to zero-carbon powered data centres and suppliers.
  • Benefiting from overall improvements in data centre efficiency and global renewable energy.

Home Working Emissions

Remote and flexible working policies are something we pride ourselves on at Little Dot, but home working comes with hidden emissions.

In 2024 and 2025 we launched improved global staff surveys to capture energy supplier data across all the regions we operate in. This gave us a clearer picture of renewable vs. non-renewable usage, allowing us to combat all non-renewable energy with targeted and region specific Renewable Energy Certificates, adding the same amount of renewable energy into the grid.

Ahead of Schedule on Net Zero

These improvements have powered us closer to our net-zero by 2030 goal and we’re pleased to share that we’re now ahead of schedule! The past four years have shown what’s needed to build a truly sustainable business, but we know the journey doesn’t end here.

So, What’s Next?

We’re focused on building on this progress with:

  • Further migration to suppliers powered by zero-carbon electricity.
  • More accurate reporting on operational and supply chain emissions.
  • Partnering with clients to calculate ad-related emissions and offer fully carbon-neutral ad campaigns and productions.

At Little Dot Studios, sustainability isn’t just a tick box, it’s at the heart of everything we do. That’s why we’ve taken the bold step to backdate our historical emissions too, so we’re carbon neutral since day dot. This ensures that every project, every campaign, and every piece of content we’ve ever created is part of a cleaner, greener legacy for our people and our planet.
